Photokina 2012, September 18–23

Photokina 2012, September 18–23, in Cologne-Deutz, appears to be the event that major camera manufacturers will be introducing a number of full-frame bodies. According to the latest rumors, Nikon is expected to show the world its new 800mm f/5.6 super-telephoto lens at Photokina too.

Canon may try to grab the spotlight early with a rumored July 23rd announcement of its long-anticipated and first entry into the mirrorless camera market. Few details are available, but it may have an APS-C-sized sensor and an articulating touchscreen, and quite possibly a large body compared to other mirrorless models. July 23rd may also be when Canon announces an EF 200–400mm f/4L IS 1.4x lens.

Antelope Valley Poppy Season 2012

Thursday Apr 19, 2012, the Poppies are showing best today of all this season. It is warming up and not a lot of wind. I saw quite a few along Lancaster Road on the way to the Poppy Reserve, Munz Ranch has a selection of different types of wildflowers but many are the smaller variety so keep your eyes open. The Goldfields and Joshua’s look pretty good on 170th West ( go North a Little ) and Hwy 138. The snakes are out also.
